Situated between the train station, the ring and the “Lisp” stadium, the “Bogerse Velden” in Lier currently offer a vast continuous green area for the suburban neighbourhood. The long perspectives generzte a sense of openness while the varying landscape offers a rich array of characters. Reprodcution the low-density typologies and individual parceling of the surrounding neighborhood would weaken the quality of life of the area. The creation of individual private gardens on ground level would contribute to the further fragmentation of the landscape.

We believe other land-use strategies should be explored, and that the layout of the housing units on the Bogerse Velden can constitute a statement for the preservation of its ecosystem and the quality of life. We propose to review the original masterplan by concentrating the new dwellings along the perimeter of the site, which allows to safeguard a common green inner area. The amounts of dwellings and parking spaces required by the urban plan are followed, but with a continuous open and flexible green space of no less than three hectares.
