The Beurrschouwburg, with the support of the Brussels and Flemish Government Architects, have invited us to formulate a strategy for the feasibility study for this cultural centre for contemporary art. Our team considers the following focal points crucial and sees the design and research process as a balance between these themes:

(EM)POWER (TO) THE PEOPLE
A room that supports (daily) use

LIVING APART TOGETHER
What is the spatial significance and connection of each discipline?

STAIRWAY TO HEAVEN
Positive re-use of negative lost circulation

BEURSSCHOUWBRUG
Connect with the neighbours and the city

JANUS, GOD OF THE TRESHOLD
Where internal organisation and external relations come together

CONTINUOUS CHANGE
Step towards a broader process

We opt for a close dialogue with all internal and external stakeholders involved, a concept for residency for topicality and development of extreme concepts as a basis for different scenarios. All this is done within a larger time frame for the Beursschouwburg, taking into account the ever-changing character of this venue for contemporary art and the urban context of the Brussels centre.
